SANDSORB Oil and Chemical Absorbent for Industrial Applications
Factories and organizations that use machinery, oils or chemicals should prepare for liquid spills and leaks. Absorbent material is one of the tools that helps contain an affected area and collect liquid in accordance with the facility’s spill-response plan.
SANDSORB is a porous natural-mineral absorbent developed for managing oil and liquid spills in industrial environments. Selection should take account of the liquid and site conditions.
For a range of work areas
SANDSORB may be considered for production areas, maintenance points, liquid-storage areas, fuel stations, vehicle workshops and other workplaces where liquids may be spilled or leaked.
Personnel should identify the liquid and assess the risk before responding. Absorption performance and the quantity required depend on the type and volume of liquid and the surface involved.
Properties of the mineral material
The porous structure helps the material take up liquid. It is lightweight and can be collected after use. Its non-flammable and heat-resistant characteristics are factors in product selection, but incidents involving flammable liquids or flames must still be handled according to the substance involved and the facility emergency plan.
Collecting absorbent does not guarantee that every surface will be free from residue or slipping risk. Inspect the area and follow site safety procedures after cleanup.
Review documents before chemical use
Before use with chemicals, flammable liquids or oxidizers, review the substance Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and product compatibility information.
Any reference to RoHS2 results or Department of Industrial Works requirements should identify the document, scope and covered product. Such results do not mean compatibility with every chemical or the absence of risk in every situation.
Prepare for the needs of the facility
Selection should consider the liquid, risk points, potential spill volume and disposal route. Used absorbent must be managed according to the absorbed contaminant and applicable requirements.
